Repair Workshops

Upcoming dates:
Sunday 4 May, Swiss darning, De Steek (De Pijp), Amsterdam
11 & 13 May, The Art of Mending, Xtant, Palma, Mallorca

Please reach out via email if you would like to host a workshop in your space.

I teach workshops of different repair techniques. Workshops normally last 3 hours. We begin by practicing on sample fabrics, and then you can move onto your own garments. You’ll also be encouraged to think about the sentimental/emotional value of your clothes and to share stories through garments while we practice.

~Woven darning is a technique of repairing holes in both knitted/woven fabrics by creating a woven structure in the material.

~Swiss darning is a technique that replicates the knit stitch. It can be used to repair holes, to strengthen thinning areas, or as an embellishment.

~Patching, inspired by the Japanese Sashiko repair technique, is used to reinforce or repair holes in clothing; it can be practiced on woven fabrics, such as cotton, silk, linen or denim clothing or home textiles, it is worked with a patch and a series of running stitches.
