Bronwen Jones is an artist and textile repairer.
She is from London, UK and currently based in Amsterdam, NL.
Her artistic practice centres around textile and mending in an expanded sense. She is interested in the stories and traces contained in textiles; how textile craft knowledge is transmitted and preserved over time; and how to make craft practices relevant in our current times. Over the last years her main focus has been mending clothing for/with the public, whilst initiating the sharing of stories and conversations on care, intimacy, value, and ownership. Her work materialises in these interactions, as well as in the resulting textile pieces, sculptures, publications, and workshops.
She is currently co-organising Textile Initiative, together with Dasha Golova, an artistic research platform and event series that expands on the potential of textile-related practices by interweaving them with wider societal topics. Through events/workshops in collaboration with artists/practitioners, they welcome the public to experiment and engage with textile crafts. She sees this project as a continuation of her repair practice, further focusing on repairing social structures by connecting different artists and the public whilst expanding on the relevance of textile craft practices.
